Beijing was the capital city of China. There were many places to visit, such as the grand Forbidden City complex, the imperial palace during the Ming and Qing dynasties. Nearby, the massive Tiananmen Square pedestrian plaza is the site of Mao Zedong’s mausoleum and the National Museum of China.
Day One: Thursday, June 14, 2018
Arriving at Beijing, China
First of all, we packed all of my things and got ready for our trip to Beijing, China. We left home and arrived at the airport at 6:30 am to drop the bags that I’ve checked in. Then, we went to the departure lounge and relax, then went for breakfast at King Power Lounge area before boarding the flight TG614 to Beijing.
During the flight, everyone sat on the aisle seat while on the way to Beijing. The plane climbed up to 41,000 feet when they passed through China.
We landed at Beijing International Airport at 3:50 pm. While we clear the immigration, there was a long queue, but we have to check the passport and scan the fingerprint first before we can proceed to the counter. Then, we collected our luggage then we met the guide from the travel agent of China Highlights to escort us to the hotel. We checked in at ‘The Imperial Mansion Apartments’ which was located in the center of Beijing. The hotel room that I am staying was the apartment. It has a bedroom, living room, and a kitchen.
During the evening, we walked down the street near the hotel in Beijing, it was the market which sells Chinese food and local food. We can order the food and eat while walking on the street. Then, we found out inside the market and ate dinner at the restaurant down in the basement and we found out ‘The Food Court’. I chose what I can eat there. After dinner, we walked to the mini-market to buy what I can eat in the room before I went back to the hotel.
In summary, I love the flight on the way to Beijing, the hotel, and night market, which was very enjoyable.
Day Two: Friday, June 15, 2018
The Great Wall of China, Chinese Paper Cutting, and The Kung Fu Show
What an exciting day at the Great Wall of China! We woke up at 6:00 am and had breakfast at the hotel. However, it wasn’t included in the room rate. However, it was very delicious so that I can choose what to eat, like the buffet. The seats at the restaurant in the hotel were very comfortable for some seats.
After breakfast, we left the hotel at 8:00 am to a very highlighted place called ‘The Great Wall of China’ located at ‘Mutianyu’. It took about one and a half hours to get there from the hotel. We arrived there at about 10:15 am, the tour staff bought me a ticket to get into the cableway on the way up, and the slide on the way down. Once we got to the top, I saw the Great Wall of China, comes from a long time ago, it usually used for protecting the battle in the earlier year. It was steep for me to climb by walking from the bottom of the mountain. I think it was great for me to take pictures even I looked at the walking trails of the Great Wall, I can see from far to the top of the mountain. About an hour later, we used the slide to go down from the top of the mountain to the ground level. It took about six minutes to get to the bottom. I didn’t buy a souvenir for that place, but I will plan to buy later. Then, we had lunch at the Chinese Restaurant, which was also located at ‘Mutianyu’.
After lunch, we went all the way back to Beijing, about two hours from Mutianyu and we went on the cart ride to the ancient house to do paper cutting. We cut the designs by folding the Chinese paper and use only the scissors to cut. I cut the lines, pandas, and butterflies that’s one of the easiest designs for me. Then, we headed back to the hotel to get a little bit of rest before we go to dinner and watch the show.
Next, we went to dinner at ‘Quanjude Peking Duck House’ which was a very famous restaurant for Chinese Ducks. While we wait for the order, we saw the chef was cutting the duck to serve to our table. After that, we went to the red theater to watch and enjoy the ‘Kung Fu Show’. The show started at 7:30 pm and took about 75 minutes and it finished at 8:45 pm. Then, we went back to the hotel and arrived there at 9:30 pm and everyone has a good sleep.
To conclude day two in Beijing, the place that I enjoyed was the Great Wall of China. For me, the paper cutting was good for me to practice more art skills. I also enjoyed the Peking duck and the Kung Fu Show.
Day Three: Saturday, June 16, 2018
The Forbidden City, Temple of Heaven, Explore Locally and Souvenir Shopping at Hamleys store in China
On Day Three, we had breakfast inside the hotel room and the guide met us in the lobby at 8:30 am. Then we went to the Forbidden City, which was located near the center of Beijing. It was usually big, and it was crowded due to many different Chinese people visited there, but there are few foreigners. There was a souvenir shop and I bought a fan to give to Teacher Alyson, Teacher Dear, and Chandni. I also bought postcard too. In the Forbidden City, I can see the wall, that it was used in history for a long time ago, that it used to protect from killing or hitting each other.
Next, we ate lunch at the Chinese Restaurant between two attractions. After lunch, we visited Temple of Heaven, the second attraction visited today. The temple was built for a long time ago and it has statue inside so that I can take pictures and there was a little souvenir shop there. I ate ice cream and I bought a little souvenir, like magnets while I am visited there. Then, we went back to the hotel and get showered, rest, and I am ready for the evening.
After we had rest, we explored locally near the hotel to have dinner at ‘Hefu-noodle’ which was the Chinese Restaurant, which sells most noodles. We ordered from the counter, then the staff gave a card from the cashier so that the food will be delivered to the table.
Finally, we explored many shops near the hotel after dinner, then we went to ‘Hamleys store’ which was originated in London, England to find perfect souvenir from China. While we were at the shop, we ate ice cream from the dessert store nearby. Then we went back to the hotel to pack all my souvenir and stuff to be ready to take home.
All in all, it was the very perfect day in Beijing to visit The Forbidden City and the Temple of Heaven. Also, Hamleys store from England was the most favorite store to visit for me.
Day Four: Sunday, June 17, 2018
Summer Palace and Departing Day from Beijing
On last Day in Beijing, we ate breakfast in the room, then we checked out from the hotel at 8:15 am. The place that we’re visited was ‘The Summer Palace’. In there, it was the very big place to visit, there are many temples inside so that I took more pictures there. While I visited, there was a long corridor, which was about 900 meters from one end to another.
Next, we took a dragon boat to the other end of the temple. I took many pictures and saw other boats sailing there. The summer palace was an imperial garden in Qing Dynasty. I learned about dynasties before. Then, lunch was had from the Chinese restaurant inside the shopping center on the way to Beijing Airport. There was a very long queue to wait for my table to be ready, so the tour guide chose the restaurant for all of us.
After lunch, we headed to Beijing Airport to check in for our flight back home to Bangkok as we arrived at 1:30 pm. I saw that the check-in counters were closed before it opens because we arrived there early to queue for check-in. Once we’ve finished check-in, we have to get on the train from Terminal 3C station to Terminal 3E station because our immigration and security check was located at Terminal 3E station. The immigration process was so long for foreigners leaving than the immigration for the foreigners arriving in China. After we cleared customs, we ate snacks at the departure lounge at Terminal 3E. Our flight back home TG615 to Bangkok were located at Gate E10, which was a little bit far away from the departure lounge. Then, we boarded the plane to Bangkok on time and waited for a long queue for a document check. I got two seats together on the plane so that I feel more comfortable.
We have landed at Suvarnabhumi Airport at 8:41 pm, ahead of schedule, 33 minutes early... I went back on the same Airbus A350-900 from Beijing Airport. The flight time was 4 hours and 15 minutes. The plane flew over turbulence area of 40,000 feet over from China, then turbulence again at the descending at the airport.
The summary of the day was, summer palace and flight back home were one of the great things that I ever had. All in all, I had a great time staying in Beijing this summer, with all of our best in their life.
